Did you know?
- The average U.S. household with a 10,000 square foot lot uses up to 3,000 gallons of water weekly for landscape irrigation.
- Running a sprinkler for 2 hours can use up to 500 gallons of water.
- Seventy percent of water used at home is used outdoors.
- 66,175 gallons of water are used outdoors per household, per year.
The Problem
The Texas hill country has been and is experiencing a major drought, while at the same time development is increasing and therfore water usage is increasing for the area. This has put a strain on our aquifers, lakes and rivers.
The Solution?
Two effective ways we can reduce our outdoor water use is by harvesting our rain water for outdoor use, or storm water management, and planting native plants, once established they are adapted to thrive in their ecoregions with less or no added water, fertilizers or pesticides.
The Aquascape Rainwater Harvesting System is a revolutionary design that combines a recirculating decorative water feature with a underground rainwater storage system.
While you enjoy the beauty of your decorative water feature, your rainwater collection system filters the stored water to prevent stagnation and growth of unhealthy bacteria. Choose to pair your rainwater harvesting system with a fountain or pondless waterfall.
You can access the stored water for irrigating surrounding flower beds and gardens when you add a booster pump and hose to the system.
Low Impact Development
Rain water harvesting can be used for flow control, detention, and or retention purposes. It can also implement filtration, infiltration or treatment processes. The Aquascape rain harvesting system provides LEED credits in multiple categories including sustainable sites, water efficiency, and innovation. LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is a program that recognizes best in class green building strategies.
